Import

Depending on the market and supply of aircraft in Canada, you may be looking south of the border to find the aircraft that will fit your needs and budget. Most likely, the first question in your mind is “what is involved in importing an aircraft?”

We import aircraft on a routine basis and so we can help answer all your questions.

This document is narrowed down to the import process as it relates to the FAA and Transport Canada. The process is straight forward, so to avoid the “horror stories” that circulate around just follow the process.

Usually a horror story begins with someone who bought an aircraft without a pre-purchase inspection. A pre-purchase inspection is not just a physical inspection – it is so much more. Most importantly – hire a professional AMO like Brant Aero. If the cost is too much to hire a professional, then buy blind and then come to us to clean up the mess (Brant Aero is also very experienced and good at that).

Here’s the steps involved in the purchase:

Step 1:  Find the aircraft you want to buy.

Step 2:  Make an offer subject to a Pre-purchase (We can help with this process).

Step 3:  Open an escrow account in Oklahoma City. (We can help with this).

Step 4:  Send a deposit to escrow.

Step 5:  Set up the PPI. Either aircraft comes to Brant Aero – preferred OR we go there.
