Hope Is In The Air
One of our customers, Russ Beaurivage, is a director and pilot with Hope From Above Ministries. Their mission aviation flights in Haiti provide life-saving flights for medical evacuations, transportation for supplies, educational purposes, and disaster relief.
Recently, Russ and his colleagues have been working on fixing up their runway in rural Bombardopolis.
As can be seen, this looks like a scary landing for anyone….
But through hard work and dedication, real improvements have happened. With roads often being impassable, their aviation ministry is crucial in providing means of travel and evacuation.
They are doing incredible and worthwhile work…
This is a first-time Mom, and her baby was breached. There are no surgeons in the North West of Haiti. Russ had to get her to Port de Paix hospital. Thanks to the services provided by Hope from Above Ministries, the mother was able to deliver a healthy baby via emergency C-section.
Pictured above is the transfer from ambulance to the airplane. She was driven two hours by ambulance to get to the runway. If she could not get the flight, the baby likely would not have survived the additional 7-hour ambulance ride compared to the 20-minute flight over the mountains by air to save her baby.
It really takes special people to want to be there to help, sacrificing their own safety, security and the comforts of a Canadian home to go to such an inhospitable place for months and months at a time.
